Welcome to the north woods, and to crystal-clear Lake Owen! The lake is 95 feet deep and almost nine miles long, and is one of the clearest lakes in Wisconsin! The shoreline is largely undeveloped, as most of the lake is in the Chequemegon National Forest and much of the remainder is held in large tracts. As a result, the lake is peaceful and pristine. Our "cabin" is a three bedroom townhome right on the shore, with two dock spaces. You will have lake views from almost every room, as well as the deck overlooking the lake. Three well-appointed bedrooms will comfortably sleep 8. The kitchen is stocked with a wide range of gourmet tools and accessories, and has a breakfast bar with seating for three. The dining room and the living room enjoy vaulted ceilings and natural cedar paneling, as well as a wall of windows overlooking the lake. The living room has a fieldstone fireplace, and is equipped with a TV with DVD player, and a Roku if you want to stream movies using the high-speed internet. (Please note - we don’t have cable TV, only streaming content or DVDs.) The second-floor master bedroom has a private and freshly remodeled ensuite bathroom, and can be opened up to the living area below if you want. It has a king size bed with premium bedding, and a comfortable chair for reading or relaxing. Two additional bedrooms are on the lower level, and are served by their own freshly remodeled full bath. The Queen Room has a single queen bed and a private sliding door entrance with direct lake access and views. The Bunk Room has twin bunk beds as well as a new queen bed, and has a window view of the water. A full washer and dryer are also on the lower level for your use. The main-level deck has plenty of seating for both dining and lounging, and is equipped with a Weber Genesis grill. If you love to fish, you have found the perfect spot. Lake Owen is a great fishing destination, and is renowned as one of the best lakes for smallmouth bass in the state. In addition, walleye, Northern pike, crappies, and largemouth bass are also here in substantial populations. The lake is narrow from end to end, which provides protection on windy days. If you bring a boat, you are welcome to use our private dock, which is a short walk away across the lawn. Cable is a five minute drive away, and has everything you might need, including gas and groceries, hardware, a great bookstore, a natural history museum, and several great restaurants. We love Brick House Cafe for lunch and Rivers Eatery for dinner, and breakfast at Delta Diner is definitely worth the drive! Velo is great for coffee drinks, breakfast or lunch. Our townhome is located in Lake Owen Villas, which is a small, private association with over 1000' of lake frontage and a wide range of amenities. -Sandy beach with swimming dock -Two tennis courts, also lined for pickleball -Two lakeside fire pits for bonfires and s'mores -A playset for the kids (if they need a break from playing at the beach!) -Basketball -Well-maintained grounds for walking along the shore This is a great spot for a family vacation, but the neighborhood quiet hours mean that it wouldn't be ideal for a party at the lake. No smoking is allowed anywhere on our property, including the deck. In addition, no pets are allowed and renters are not allowed to bring jet skis per neighborhood rules. If you aren't familiar with Lake Owen and the Cable area, you are in for a treat. The lake is crystal clear - one of the cleanest in the state - and is about 9 miles long. The charming town of Cable is renowned for its extensive network of trails, which are a short drive from the property. -Biking - The CAMBA trail network includes 400 miles of mountain biking to satisfy riders of every ability level, with miles of quiet and scenic country roads to bike on if that is more your style. -Hiking - Easy access to hiking trails that will lead you to bubbling streams, pristine ponds, and the essence of the north woods. Trailheads are easy to find nearby, with numerous trails in the county forest and the 1.5 million acre Chequamegon National Forest. In addition, the 4600 mile North Country Trail passes just north of Lake Owen. Let us know if you need a recommendation! -Cross country skiing is some of the best in the Midwest, and is known throughout the world. The American Birkebeiner is the largest Nordic ski race in North America, and the starting line is only a few miles away. A wide range of watersports opportunities await you as well. Lake Owen is ideal for boating and fishing, and is also a fantastic spot for paddlesports of all kinds. If that isn't enough, the beautiful Namekagon River passes just a couple of miles south of us, and is very popular for canoe trippers. Is whitewater more your style? The Brule River is an easy drive for your whitewater adventures. Like golf? You are in luck! -Telemark Golf Course is a par 72 championship course, and is less than five miles away. -Lakewoods Forest Ridges is an 18 hole course less than nine miles away, and is ranked "4 stars" by Golf Digest. -The Cable/Hayward area is billed as the "Golf Capital of Wisconsin", with 9 courses all within an easy drive. You can explore the area by car as well. Bayfield is about an hour away, and features beautiful views of Lake Superior and a ferry to Madeline Island. In the fall, the Cable Color Tour is a marked driving route with stunning fall colors. And everywhere you look, there is a quiet country road to enjoy, and to remind you that you have gotten away from it all!

This property is located about one-half mile off the public road on a private drive, then 600 feet down the tree-lined driveway to the luxury home on the lake. Much of this side of the lake borders the Chequamegon National Forest with opportunities to see many animals and birds on a regular basis. This is a residential neighborhood with homes spaced well apart from each other where the neighbors respect each other’s privacy. The house faces southwest with stunning views of the lake and forest from every room and deck of the house plus spectacular sunsets each night from the privacy of your dock located on 335 feet of gorgeous sand shoreline. You can’t see a single neighbor from this special place. The sand is wide and long giving everyone plenty of room to play. The yard has a park-like setting with flower beds and raspberry patches surrounding the property. The main floor consists of the master bedroom with hand carved log queen bed, private deck and large bathroom with shower and corner jetted tub. The open living space has a family room with a vaulted ceiling and floor-to-ceiling fireplace plus a wall of tall windows facing the lake. The full kitchen has stainless appliances, plenty of cupboards and counter space plus a large 4-stool island. A family-sized table with large windows on two sides rounds out the dining area of this open concept space where the entire family is part of the action. There is also a half-bath off the living area. The main floor also has a four season porch with love seat and two rocking chairs as well as a small table for board games, cards or a romantic dinner. The entire corner of the house is surrounded by a large deck that overlooks the lake with sunset views and includes two patio tables, umbrellas and a number of chairs. There is also a large covered porch on the forest side of the house with peaceful views especially in the morning when the sun lights it. This porch has a small table to enjoy a quiet meal and two rocking chairs for the utmost in quiet relaxation. Countless hours are typically spent on the porches and decks. An open stairway with hand-carved log railings takes you to the second floor. There is a small open office in the loft area overlooking the living space. There is also a full bathroom on this floor with tub and shower. The first large bedroom includes a hand carved log queen bed and is decorated in a bear theme with views of the lake and forest. The second large bedroom has a hand carved log king bed and is decorated with a wolf theme with views of the lake and yard. Off of the king bedroom is an 8’ x 8’ walk in closet that has a twin bed and frequently houses a young guest instead of clothes (thus the 4.5 bedrooms). The walkout lower level has a bedroom with a hand carved log queen bed. This space also has a full bathroom with tub and shower, family room with fireplace and leather furniture. There is a small game room off the family room with a pool table and electronic dart board. The yard only has a half dozen wide steps that get you down to the lake. There are two outdoor fire pits that make fires possible no matter the direction of the wind. A log swing and log chairs make for great family time sharing the days adventures around the fire. A small hill near the lake includes an open gazebo area surrounded by a flower garden with a table and chairs that make a great place to have breakfast or watch the sunset. Our cabin is about 3 miles from the Birkie start area. It's tucked behind pines right on Highway 63 in Cable. It's within easy walking distance to everything in Cable. It has a queen bed in the smaller bedroom. The larger bedroom has a full size bed, and will have 2 twin xl bunkbeds in the large bedroom. The couch in the living room is a sleeper as well. The place can sleep 6-8, but makes a great space for 2-5. Dedicated area in the basement for plenty of gear. It is also 2.5 miles from the North End Cabin, and within a short distance from several other trail areas for skiing, snowshoeing, and fatbiking. ATV & Snowmobile right out of the driveway too. You get the whole place. The cabin sits on 1 acre of woods within sight of Rivers Eatery (recommended!), so it's a quick walk to town and back after a few beers! Use the kitchen to make yourself a meal and make yourself some coffee. Washer and dryer. There is a basement with a separate room with easy outside access where you could put several bikes and plenty of gear. There are games, cards, coloring books, and a puzzle. Internet and Smart TV. Your private pier is just 30 feet from your front door of A REAL LOG CABIN, built by our family in 60's. The cabins are clean and natural and a cozy stone fireplace to read a book. Out side in the evening with the crackle of the fire pit while waiting for the moon from across the lake to simmer up to your pier and the stars to appear one by one to make the big dipper. With every evening the sounds of Loon Laughter as they communicate with their families and other friends, known as the "crazy laugh." Read more about it so you know why they make such a sound. In the living room, a 27" TV and small air conditioner if needed. Nights get cool on the lake front. The natural stone fireplace with 2 crates of wood, some indoor games. Outside there is a picnic table, plus table & chairs to move about. a fire pit. 1 small Weber kettle grill and 1 lg kettle grill. ( need lighter/charcoal) out side games for family fun. All so for our fishing friends, a very nice fish cleaning kitchen with running water, refrigerators/freezers, cleaning supplies, all screened in. Outdoor games and extra fishing items are stored here too. The cabin comes with a boat that will take a small outboard if you care to bring one or there are boats to rent on the lake. We have 1 pontoon to rent all so. The lake offers fine dinning along with a bite to eat at several places with good price and value, A place to get bait or a license or ask where the fishing is best. We are a friendly group of people that are here to make your vacation a rememberable one.
